09 May U COUNT May Prayer Notes
Praises, Prayer: Local, Kolkata, New Delhi, Ethiopia
We give thanks to God for the recent trafficking raids on massage parlors that took place in Fort Collins, Longmont and Denver and that U COUNT representatives worked side by side with local law enforcement and victims’ advocates to provide help. Please continue to pray for local victims of trafficking rings and that those responsible would be caught and prosecuted.
The projected opening date for Sarah’s Home is June 26th!!! Pray for the staff moms who will be moving into the home this month and training to work with trafficking victims.
Our own Sarah Miles will be leaving for Uganda on May 29th. Sarah will be working with street children and orphans in Kampala and at Sheppard Centre for boys. Pray for her safety and for God’s daily guidance and provision. We are blessed to be able to partner with her in prayer and support and look forward to praying for the needs of the communities she will work with as she keeps us updated!
Events: The Body Gym event is May 9th and Run for Orphans is May 10th. Pray that both events will be successful in promoting awareness, in moving people into action, and in raising funds.
Project Rescue Kolkata
Continue to pray for a location for the vocational unit, evening care center and drop-in center. We know that God has a plan!
Project Rescue New Delhi
The kids leave the boys and girls homes for summer holidays with their families from May 27th-June 15th. Pray that they would be safe while with their families, and that they would all return to the homes after the holidays. Some of the mothers don’t have a good place to take their kids during this time. Prayer is needed for the kids and the moms also.
Continue to pray for a director for the school!
They also have an immediate need for a full-time male staff member to work in the boys home. Please pray for the health of current staff member “J” who is growing tired with the staff shortage and has low blood pressure.
The building where the outreach center will be was built in 1937 and needs lots of work. Pray for reasonable costs to do the work and that the resources will be available. They hope to have a dedication the end of May.
Project Rescue Sites (ALL)
Staffing remains the biggest challenge for all PR sites. In Bangalore, Asian Bible College will start a 10 month certification program in July 2013 for students to become accredited to work with rescued trafficking victims. Six girls who were rescued and taken into the Pune home plan to start the program and want to train to work with other victims. Please pray for the success of this program and specifically for these 6 young women as they prepare to go through the training.
Please pray for an Ethiopian woman “W” who was orphaned at age 13 and moved from the countryside to the city of Addis Ababa to find work at age 14. She was raped and then forced into prostitution to survive and support her little girl. Her daughter is now 8, and “W”’s life was changed when an outreach team met her on the streets and prayed for her. She was impacted by their love and their words of affirmation. She has given up the life of prostitution, and with the help of a small team of individuals in the US and Ethiopia, she will be starting a 6 month hair salon training program, so that she will have sustainable income to support herself and her daughter. Please pray for her as she grows in faith and knowledge of God’s love and as she boldly moves into a new life.
Thank you merciful God that you have even numbered the hairs on each head, and not one of your children is forgotten by you!
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?
Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.
Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7; Matthew 10-29-31
